The incident occurred in Dutchess County on Saturday, Oct. 5 in the town of Pleasant Valley.
Responding state police troopers and Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office deputies officers located one victim suffering from a stab wound and another the victim of gunfire at the residence on Rawls Road, located just west of the Taconic State Parkway.
Troopers and deputies secured the scene and began attempted life-saving-techniques for both victims.
Empress Emergency Medical Services and Pleasant Valley Fire Department Emergency Medical Technicians arrived on scene, took control of medical care, and transported both victims to local area hospitals.
Anthony G. Cuozzo, age 20, the victim of multiple gunshot wounds, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
An initial investigation determined that during a dispute Cuozzo stabbed a 53-year-old man once in the chest. The stabbed victim then shot Cuozzo, according to police.
Following surgery, the stabbing victim checked himself out of the hospital and returned to the residence.
A second dispute ensued in which the 53-year-old was struck with a blunt object causing non-life-threatening injuries.
This investigation remains ongoing.
"There is no threat to the public at this time," state police said.
